That is awesome. It must have been so cool to have a pet that you could communicate with so well. x

I remember Petra - who Mum lost 2 years ago at age 15 - when I had my piano tuned by a blind man. His poor dog never got the opportunity to play about, so Mum let him into the garden to play with Petra. The dog somehow thought it was his own garden and started playing with Petra´s toys - she was miffed! Mum took the lan home after he had finished. When she had come back, we found Petra in her basket tightly clutching to her breast her rubber squeaky bone, as if to say, "No-one´s getting it - it´s MINE!" Rest In Peace Petra. She´s actually in Mum´s lounge in a pretty urn!

Aaaaw nettie thats awful and i wish the law would take things like that more seriously. Its basically murder and a lot of people dont realise how special our pets are to us. It is like losing a child and to find out that someone deliberately took thier life must be devastating. I do believe that what goes around comes around, hopefully that horrendous man will get whats coming to him. x

i have been lucky that i have not lost a pet for a long time i am 22 now but when i was 7 i had the most beautiful little black and white kitten called sweep he was fabby at ten weeks old we started to let him out for half an hour at a time while i plated in the garden he would chase and play with me we were the best of friends as i had been with him since he was born(from my cat sooty the best mum) our neighbour staster to cut there grass one day and he was spooked he ran to the garden on the other side and as they had a pound was pleased there was something so entertaining anaway i picked him up and put him back in the house the next day he went to see his new fishy friends and the next and the day after that until one day when he was arround 14 weeks old he did not come running when i shouted i went to look for him and there he was so still beside the pond i got dad and we took him to the vet they ran some tests and gave him fluids until the resulst came in the next afternoon we said nite nite and went home we got a call later that night to say he died in his sleep.. the test results did not matter we paid our bill and said goodbye then that afternoon the vet called fearing for the safety of our other cat sooty he informed us that sweep had huge ammounts of rat poison running through him. turns out my neighbour did not like sweep sitting by his pond he was so smug he told me when i was playing he was glad the black shit machiene was gone. that made me strong i realised people are not always what they seem and to trust only those you no well. RIP

It was a beautiful thing you did for him, he finally got the life he deserved. It can be hard to take in a pet that is ill, knowing that you could lose them at any moment. Ithink it is one of the most selfless things you can do. Thankyou for sharing your memories of him and thankyou for what you gave him, a second chance at life. R.I.P iggy.

I think the best thing about Iggy (my boy rat that i lost recently) was just watching him grow and thrive! when we got him (he came from Pets at Home rehoming section) he was in an awful condition. he was skinny, he had really bad resperitory problems that had gone untreated for a long time, and his coat was sparce and wiry. he looked so poorly that we didn´t think he would make it home from the initial vet trip to get him checked over! however, he did make it home and we gave him a chance and once on medication and a decent diet he just thrived :-) it is such a testament to these animals´ good nature that through all of the neglect and abuse he and his brother suffered they are / were the most friendly, good natured rats i´ve ever met. they never bite and loved company. iggy loved cuddles so much. i will never forget the day, after having him for about 2 months, when i realised that his coat was no longer the "dirty white" and patch it had been since we had got him but was now lovely and silky smooth and he in fact, had beautiful champaign coloured markings :-) we had the pleasure of his company for around 5 months - not nearly long enough but i´m just happy that i managed to give him a nice home for his last few months rather than thinking of him being left to suffer and die in a dirty cage in the store room of a pet shop :-( bless iggy, rip.
