Foster Carers/Volunteers

I always need help with fostering dogs and rabbits and responsible volunteers for transporting and homechecking. Dog fosterers do need patience as many rescues come in confused or traumatised. There can be separation anxiety and dogs are often clingy or sometimes the opposite and need time and space to come to terms with their situation. Some need help with basic things like toilet training and learning to relax when left alone. Strays often have sores and skin complaints , sore eyes and ears and need T.L.C / sometimes nursing. Taking in a disadvantaged animal , being responsible for its rehabilitation and seeing it off into a new forever home is so rewarding if you are an animal lover. Hornchurch Animal Rescue supplies food and equipment for fosterers. Foster volunteers are asked to answer a few questions about what type of animal they can house and are subject to a quick id and homecheck.

I foster for my local animal sanctuary. How true that so many rescue dogs need so much tlc and need to be shown that not every human is bad. They are so loyal, devoted and an honour to have. It´s so rewarding to see one of your own foster dogs go off to a new home where they will find happiness and their own special ´forever´ place. I don´y deny it´s hard to say goodbye, and there´s always a few that really tug on the heart strings, but the best way to deal with those feelings is to know they are getting a good home and it frees up a place for you to help another dog in need.
I do wish you well.....

I have fostered many dogs in the past and there is nothing like seeing them go off to a new forever home. My problem is I often fail.... hence Jerry our 21 year old Chihuahua....
