The 17-week-old Jack Russell terrier believed to have been stolen from a farm near Chester.

A REWARD is now being offered for the return of a puppy believed to have been stolen from a farm near Chester.

Owner Christine Jones, of Mollington Farm Shop, Station Road, Mollington, said they are offering an award for the safe return of their 17-week-old Jack Russell terrier.

Mrs Jones added she witnessed her pet being taken away by people she did not know.

They had originally decided to keep the puppy, the last from a litter of three, with the intention of making him a working dog to help out at the farm.

But at about 2pm on Saturday a dark blue or black E-registration BMW pulled into their farmyard and took the puppy when it was lying next to its mother, then drove off in the direction of Blacon.

She said: “They pulled up and got out. When they had gone the pup was gone.

“The mother is quite distraught and looking everywhere for him.

“He is very distinctive.

“He has a black head, a black docked tail, two black spots either side of his body and is quite spotty.”

She added: “We have rung all the veterinary surgeries in the area with the hope he was turned in.

“He is a proper farm dog and always outside. If he is confined to a house he will chew and then probably be thrown on the street.”

The owners have decided to withhold his name but they said on his collar it says “Jones 2,” as well as their address and contact details.

Christine added: “We cannot believe it.”

Cheshire Constabulary spokesman Sarah Nixon said: “The incident was reported to police. A tri-coloured, mainly black Jack Russell puppy was stolen from the backyard.

“Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the vehicle around that time to call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000 or alternatively on Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.”

Anyone who may have found the puppy is also asked to contact the owners on 01244 851333.
