Hi i´ve just seen a message asking for groomng tips for Bichons so here it is...

in between havng your dog groomed by a professional brushing the fur at least once a day (if you can) will mean you get better results from the groomers. When you brush you should be able to part the fur all the way to the skin without knotted fur getting in the way. Use a slicker brush on one small section at a time usng quick strokes pullng the fur away from the body if you brush across the body continually you will give your dog brush burn.Do a little area each time. Dnt forget the inside of the legs and tummy and under the ears. If your dog is extremely knotted to the skin buy a curry comb and good canine conditioner (you can get this in most good pet stores). Again one section at a time soak the fur in conditiner and leave for a few mins. Then use the curry comb to tease out the knots! It can be a very lenghty process have patience don´t rinse until all of the knot is out!
When you are happy rinse thoroughly. Bichons should be used to having a hair dryer on them. So once you have towel dried the excess water (don´t rub, squeeze the water). Use yur hair dryer on the lowest heat possible (cool/slightly warm air) and on one section at a time use the slicker brush in the same quick outward strokes to tease the hair straight. Don´t move on to the next section until the previous is dry. If you carry on doing this when you do come to take your dog to the groomers they will be able to give them a fantastic hair cut. Don´t try and cut your dogs hair unless you have had tarining!! Get them used to being brushed bathed and blow dried as early as possible!
