Discussion started by: | Discussion > EVERY LITTLE HELPS -HELPING RESCUES IN YOUR AREA !thare is a lot you can do to help local rescues even if you carnt take in an animal you can do so much more offer to take dogs for walks , even this frees up alittle time ( not all rescues allow just anybody to take dogs for walks so speak to the resue staff see how you can help ) giveing petfoods even if its a can of the cheepest brands it doesnt matter it helps save money and feeds one hungry animal donateing old blankets , pets beds . collers leads , cages and other such pet items includeing hutches and runs ,, invaluable but can be expensive always needid offering to help onece a week cleaning out cages and pens again helps free up time if you can adopt a pet rather than buy not always easy and not for everyone burt is much more rewarding orgerniseing a raffle ,,, to help pay animal costs ,,, orgernise a carboot or a charity event in local pubs thar is so much you can do can you with a little thorght it can go a long way every little helps and rember your local rescue animal shelter is apart of your commuity if they carnt rely on the commuity to help then who will ? Comments Post a comment in this discussion: 13 May 2010 16:24 over the years i have adopted 3 dogs from the shelter in our area, first one was ben a yorkshire terrier, he had really bad eczma and had been badly used, he turned out to be a fantastic loving dog and lived til he was about 17.we then got sam a little black mongrel puppy who had been dumped in a phone box he was the best dog ever, we had him til he was 13 and its been about 6 years since he died and i still miss him, we got harry, a cross breed from same shelter and he smiles when he is happy to see people, he lives with my ex husband. i really think more people should go to a shelter for a dog, they need homes and make fantastic pets. 13 May 2010 15:33 l used to foster GSD with special needs for the GSD welfare , lots of dogs hate being in kennels and dont show their full personality so if anyone is in a position to foster thats a great help to.
