malware problems

hi all when i put my laptop on this morning
it said i should download the latest upgrade ... witch i did and i had to restart my laptop so i did but when it came back on it said the malware is swtiched off
ive tryed switching it on but it wont let me

im not sure if its needid but i wont it on
i have all the firewall and antivirus on so more than anything i wont it on for peace of mind
does anyone know how to switch it on
every time i go on to my control panel it says switch on but nothing is happening
