Many of these puppies are exported to Britain but the breeding bitches often spend their entire lives in horrendous conditions. Many of these dogs, both pups and breeding bitches end their lives in the pounds.
On the other hand dogs rescued from pounds have been rehomed in England and found wonderful loving homes
I don´t know what the rescues would do without the help that has been given to so many irish dogs by so many people in the UK.
The animal welfare legislation here dates from 1911, there is no regulation of puppy farming.
If you feel strongly about this issue please contact the minister and ask him to enact legislation as an immediate priority. Thank you.
