Who can use PetStreet?
PetStreet.co.uk is dedicated to celebrating and positively contributing to the lives of our companion animals and birds. Anyone is welcome to participate in PetStreet, but please note that PetStreet is not responsible for and cannot endorse any products or services offered via the website, and we do not approve of people using the site to sell animals.
How do I set up a page on PetStreet?
To create a page on PetStreet, or to send a message to another PetStreet member, you must be a registered user. Registration is free and takes less than 2 minutes - you don't need to have a pet and don't require anything other than a love of animals! To register now, simply click here and follow the simple on-screen insructions.
What is the URL of my page?
As well as simply reading the URL from the browser window, you can also set up a more friendly and easy to remember URL for your owner, pet and group pages. You can do this when registering, or when editing your profile, by completing the Folder field - if you choose fred as your folder, your URL will be www.petstreet.co.uk/fred. The website will ensure this is unique, so unforunately you may not get your first choice.
Does it cost anything?
Creating a page on PetStreet is absolutely free. Our revenues will come from advertising and commercial partnerships with carefully selected companies who provide products and services that we feel will be of interest and benefit to our community of users.
Who is behind PetStreet?
PetStreet is the brainchild of Maurice Melzak, a zoologist and documentary film maker with 25 years' experience exploring our relationship with the animal kingdom. The website was designed and built by Zone, a London-based digital content specialist and partner in PetStreet.
Is my personal information safe?
PetStreet will not pass on your personal data to any third-party without your permission. All communication between users of PetStreet is managed via the website without the personal data of either party being make available.
What is a group and how do they work?
Members of the PetStreet community can join with other individual users to form groups - and each group also has a free webpage where they can post messages, photographs and blog updates. Membership of a group is controlled by the user who creates them, and any PetStreet member can create a group of their own.
What can I do if someone leaves a rude or unacceptable message on my pages?
You have complete control over the content of your page - you can delete any comment or message left on your page by any other user entirely at your discretion. You can also report another user to us by emailing feedback@petstreet.co.uk.
Can children open pages on PetStreet – is the site safe?
The site is perfectly safe for children to use. All communication between users of PetStreet is managed via the website without the personal data of either party being make available.
Why doesn't PetStreet work on my computer?
PetStreet has been designed and developed to work on most home computers. Some functionality, such as the video player, requires your web browser to have the free Flash software installed - you can find out more about Flash, and download a free copy, here. Some minor functionality, including the blog text formating tool, is not compatible with the Safari web browser at present. If you have any technical problems with PetStreet, please let us know and we'll do our best to fix the problem - email techsupport@petstreet.co.uk
