She was born with a brain abnormality called Cerebellar Hypoplasia. The part of her brain which controls her balance was damaged while she was still in the uterus. The damaged is usually a consequence of the virus Feline Panleukopaenia ( or Feline Parvovirus), it is quite rare as it is now covered in the standard cat vaccinations. Dory came to us from a family with small children. They thought they would be able to cope but Dory found it difficult to get away from the kid´s grabbing hands quickly enough. She has settled in well at the practice and often wobbles out to meet the clients! She is mentally normal and is very happy with life. We get the odd client who gets quite concerned that we have let one of the cats recovering from an anaesthetic out into the waiting room! We brought one of our cats in to be neutered and one of her two remaining kittens, Squirt had CH. On the day, you checked out his eye ulcer and helped us obtain a human antiviral drug, Famvir for him. After a month of the Famvir his ulcer has now healed, the cloudiness has almost all gone and he will soon be starting his vaccinations. He seems to be enjoying life and now all we have to do is find him that special home! Many thanks, Angie 04 Apr 2010 18:36 Bless her ... kittens and small children don´t often mix well. I tried to advise my neighbours to wait a while but they wouldn´t. Hence they have a disabled cat - they didn´t rush to get help for it either ... they had kids stuff to do. Grrrrrrrrr! |
