I have a little shar pie called Princess Tiger Lilly

the shih tzu is reported to be the oldest and smallest of the Tibetan holy dogs.

Does anyone here know what the average life span of a shih tzu is? My neighbour´s dog just died suddenly, about four months short of her tenth birthday? Is that about average or is that a short life for a shih tzu?
