Club name ~The Winds of Change~![]() About this club I am passionate about raising the awareness of ethical farming both here in Britain and also in other EU Countries. I have decided to set up this Club in hope that I can bring those that eat meat (like myself) and are also interested whether they are meat eaters or not,the information and insight of how their pre-packed meat came to be about from birth to slaughter and to also raise awareness that unless you buy British, you cannot always expect to be eating cruelty free food. This Club is not aimed to shock or convert people´s eating habits...it´s here to show you what is happening now and how farming is set to change (hopefully for the better) and help those decide what meat to buy and how to support ethically reared meat & poultry. My step-father was a Butcher so I learnt ALOT about the slaughtering and butchery of animals from an early age plus,I have worked on farms both Beef,Dairy & Sheep and also Rare Breeds. Any questions do please ask!. **FOOTNOTE!** PLEASE CLICK ´SEE ALL DISCUSSIONS´ TO SEE THE WHOLE RANGE OF INFO ALREADY AVAILABLE...THANK YOU. Tag your club to make it easier for people to find. They are now saying that their faith schools must not serve halal meat as its promoting Sharia law through the back door. They are also looking at their shares in supermarkets that sell unlabelled halal meat with the view of selling them. Good news at last, shame its come too late. 15 Jul 2010 11:06 thanks to michael eric and mary for replying i only just saw this cos for some odd reason we dont get the email when someone comments on this wall strange anyway thanks will check it out now .. 15 Jul 2010 10:36 Sorry guy´s, I´ve only just seen this message board so will try and answer what I can. Noo´s, I have added a new link above on Discussions that will explain the difference between Kosher and Halal food - I hope that helps explain things for you. We do seem to cover the issue of Halal alot on here because it bears an all important issue of animal welfare and ponder´s the question of whether the ritualistic slaughtering process is both humane and ethical and has any place here in the UK ?. Because this group is all about the ethics and wellbeing of farm animals, it is obviously going to cover the Halal/Kosher methods and their implications also - I report things on here as they happen and it would appear that many take this issue as a very serious one indeed even within our very own Meat industry. I believe I have covered the slaughter methods of Halal/Kosher in a previous discussion earlier on, but the new link should give all the info that you would want to know and NO....there is nothing graphic on it at all!. 09 Jul 2010 07:47 Noo, I think the halal style has a Mulah (Priest) saying prayers as the animals are killed!!!!!! Kosher, I do not think any rabbi is present. Both methods need to be banned no matter what. 08 Jul 2010 16:23 oh ok i thorght it was 2 diffrent things it appers to be the same method with diffrent names . 01 Jul 2010 22:03 Member Removed from what i´ve read...kosher meat will meet halal requirements.. but halal will not meet kosher standards..its a bunch of crap..the whole thing. its a bunch of.."you must do this...and you can´t do that"...and say ´in the name of allah "...and blah,,blah,,blah,,... 29 Jun 2010 13:54 Noo, I´m not an expert but I thought both Halal and Kosher did not pre stun before killing. 29 Jun 2010 11:54 hi mary we seem to dicuss halal meet on here alot but what about other ways of slaughter the jewish have kosher meat ? is this the same killing method as halal meat ? sorry for asking a silly question i just wont to understand what the diffrance is | Club Members Our Pictures |
