I have had cats for nearly 40 years and have been helping with an animal charity for as long. I have fostered very many cats over the years but never one quite as difficult as this for food. Never mind, we will get there eventually. At least we have weaned her from cheese sandwiches!!! 28 Sep 2010 12:51 I have a cat who also hates chunks, so I just mash it right up, perhaps this will help. x 28 Sep 2010 12:46 Thanks Joanne. Yes, I know that chicken and salmon are not good on their own and we do manage to get her to eat some cat foods some times. She licks off the gravy or jelly but often refuses to chew the food. There is nothing wrong with her teeth. She is just picky. We have tried just about every cat food on the shelves and, at the moment, we are trying to get her to eat prescription food from the vet. She seems quite healthy but you are right. She does need more. We will just have to persevere. Thanks for your conern. Pat 28 Sep 2010 08:13 Patricia, start her with fishy pouches as these are richer and more appetizing than dry or cans, mix a little bit with her chicked and gradually increase over two weeks utill its all pouch. It is so important you get her eating a complete food because cat food not only contains essential vitamins and minerals, but it contains essential TAURINE which is needed for eyesight unlike dogs food. You won´t get all this by just feeding plain chicken or salmon. I do hope this helps Joanne x 27 Sep 2010 23:17 Yes, it would certainly be lovely to find out precisely what they are thinking, especially with regard to their food. We took two rescued cats from a shelter last year. One had been living rough on a building site for over a year and had really suffered. She had bald patches and was in a terrible mental state. She is now much calmer and is very affectionate although we certainly have to be very polite to her and cannot impose ourselves upon her. But, she is difficult to feed. When we had her, she would only eat cheese and bread and butter. I suppose this was because the workmen shared their sandwiches with her. Now, she doesn´t want any of that and HAS to have fresh chicken every day. I might then persuade her to eat some kind of cat food. But which kind? Oh goodness, it is a nightmare. She is so fussy and difficult. I just wish she could tell us what she wants to eat (apart from the chicken......oh......and tinned red salmon which we have given her in desperation). 27 Sep 2010 23:10 Thanks Patricia, its great hearing from skeptics, and I don´t take it personally, you obviously have a brain for knowledge, because of how you describe your work, so I would think you would be keen to find out more? yes? If not, I feel it really is a shame, you may miss something that truly is magical. But I will leave that choice to you. The final thing I would say is.... If your own animal could really talk through psychic ability, wouldn´t you REALLY want to find out for their sake? just imagine the possibilities if it were true??????? 27 Sep 2010 23:02 Well Joanne, it really doesn´t matter whether I believe or not because you are probably doing great work, whatever the basis of it is. People often think I am psychic because the work I do seems to be inexplicable to others. But I know that it is based on hard analysis and my stringent training. People are often amazed by some of my solutions to questions and problems but that is just because they do not have my background knowledge and training. There is certainly nothing magic about what I achieve. It is just the product of many years of hard slog and the ability to use data imaginatively. I just thought I would express my views to see if anyone else felt like me. Keep doing what you are doing because you are obviously doing good. All good wishes to you Patricia 27 Sep 2010 22:54 I agree with you, Yes, of course animals communicate with humans through body language, because they cannot communicate on any other level unless you know how to use your psychic ability (which you have may I add) so they have learn´t ways to communicate that people understand. It would be a very sad world for an animal if it lived in utter silence and stillness with no form of connection don´t you think? Please don´t think I am getting at you, I just want perhaps educate you in something for what ever reason like so many other animal carers have not come across or understood. The animals are truly amazing and psychic? 100%. Please read The Field, and do take the opportunity to research the subject before dismissing it. Then if you still feel the same thats fine. But I guarantee you won´t! lol Much love Joanne x | Club Members Our Pictures Our Films |
