Pregnant Bitch

This is a picture of a Westie bitch who is probably about 7 weeks pregnant, which means these pups are due very soon! The dogs head and chest is to the left and her pelvis on the right. You can see the skeletons very clearly in her abdomen. There are 5 pups visible.

This dog was rescued by her owners only 1 month ago. She was found neglected in a house with 2 other dogs, another Westie and a German Shepherd. Her new owners were unaware she was pregnant and were very pleased with her weight gain since they took her on, and only realised their mistake when they brought her in for a checkup! This xray was taken to see how many pups she was expecting and for the owners to decide whether they wanted the pregnancy to go ahead. Given the pups were so near to term, they decided to let her keep them.

I will let you know how she gets on, lets just hope the dad is the other Westie and not the GSD!

**UPDATE**

The pups arrived last week, and all look like pure westies! The birth went fine and she is a very good mum, so good in fact that we think this isn´t her first litter.
